Nowadays due to all the technology being extremely accessible, is getting more and more difficult to communicate with each other in person!
Before, wherever we went, dentist appointment, hair dresser or barber, the bus stop, etc.,we would start a conversation with someone. Now we are so attached to our phones that we don’t even acknowledge the presence of anyone else.
When it relates to go online and start communicating with someone, we have no problem.
Some people that I talk to say they have lots of friends but the majority are online friends.
That confuses me, because although they are called “friends” I think there is a big difference between an “online friend” and a “real friend”
In my opinion the main difference is:
The level of intimacy.
•An online friend is a casual acquaintance.
• A real friend usually signifies a relationship of somewhat greater depth.
It’s not fair to compare online friends with real life friends because there is something irreplaceable about real human contact. With real life friends, you can go out to a movie or to your favourite restaurant and do things together you both enjoy.
Although, online friends, are always available but it’s only within the reach of your mobile phone or computer.
Online friends usually only know what you tell them “about you”
There’s is no doubt that when you are describing yourself to an online friend you embellish your qualities and at the same time you diminish your faults.
Most of the time “online friends” are considered entertainment.
Online friends don’t “know YOU” as a person.
They don’t know how you react in some situations, they don’t know if you are gentle or a rude person! Loud or soft spoken!
Anybody can “write” or “say” anything that you would be pleased to read or to hear!
Real life friends are there for you in case of need not only with words of encouragement but physically there to do whatever you need to be done!
A real friend share your interests, opinions, beliefs, or hobbies.
They share knowledge about one another’s lives, emotions, fears, or interests.
They share feelings of love, respect, admiration, or appreciation.
And all this is the irreplaceable “human contact” that differentiates both types of “friends”
What do you think about this?
