I planted it 60 years ago. Together with my husband's parents we built a house on a large plot of land in the country. I was responsible for laying out the garden. I turned it into a small park with lots of trees. So I planted this Liriodendron tree near the house. When it was 3 years old and had reached a height of almost 3 meters, my mother-in-law didn't like it, because it only blooms after 20 years. Mother-in-law would much rather have a silver fir. You have to make compromises for peace. And so, with a heavy heart, I sawed the tree down to 1.50 m and put a bird feeder on it. I planted the silver fir 4m closer to the terrace. My mother-in-law could see it from the kitchen window and she was happy. 18 years later my mother-in-law died in the fall. Winter came, spring came and I could hardly believe my eyes when I discovered a small green shoot on the trunk of the Liriodendron. It is alive, the tree is alive, birdhouse down, and sure enough, more shoots appeared, even at the top. It continued to grow quickly. After 3 years, 21 years after planting, the first flowers appeared. And now it blooms beautifully every year from the end of May to mid-June. Back then I decorated and lit the silver fir one more time for Christmas and then removed it. My tree now stretches its branches out to the terrace.
