An unforgettable experience in London 2 - The end

After I had got over the shock in the Piccadilly café, my thoughts moved on. In any case I would not give up buy that beautiful coat.
So I was happy to find a good job which consisted of taking a baby for a walk in its pram every day. As the baby's father, a Pole, ran a small but exquisite restaurant nearby, he asked me one day if I could also help out in his restaurant in the evening. He was looking for someone to prepare the salads and desserts.
I thought that was wonderful.
I loved to decorate the salad and dessert bowls since there were no limits to my imagination, especially as I had all kinds of ingredients at my disposal.
After a few weeks, just before Christmas, I had enough money to finally buy that beautiful coat. ----
No one can imagine how happy I was.
From the last shillings I bought postcards of the royal family and a record of the British national anthem.

Wearing my new coat and carrying 2 heavy suitcases, I set off on the long journey back to Germany.
When I arrived home in the middle of the night, my mother welcomed me with open arms.
The first thing I did was unpack the record.
And just imagine,
in a block of flats, in the middle of the night, the British national anthem was playing loudly, my tears were running and I would have loved to go back to London right away.
